Mini-Course; Lesson #3a: “It’s Time To Get Traffic, Traffic and More Traffic!”
With Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 of this 5 lessons series mini-course completed, you are well on your way to getting your business established online.
To accomplish that you need traffic; lots of traffic … but not just any traffic will do … you will need highly targeted traffic. That means you need people who are interested in what you have to offer and want to hang out at your blog.
Here’s how you’ll get real traffic fast:
1 Create a Feedburner account:
-Open your browser and goto Feedburner.com.
-Login using your Google account info or click on ‘Create an account’.
-Below the heading ‘Burn a feed right this instance‘ type in the full URL of your blog (example: http://www.nodeju.com or http://nodeju.blogspot.com) and click on ‘Next‘.
You will now see a Welcome screen.
At the bottom of that screen is your Feed Title and Feed Address.
-Click on ‘Next’.
Now Feedburner shows you a “Congrats” screen.
Just below its intro message you will see your assigned Feedburner Feed Address.
-Copy your Feed Address and paste it temporarily in your notepad app.
To test that your feed URL works, open up a new tab in your browser and paste your feed URL in the search box and click enter.
You should now see a new page provided by Feedburner.com that displays your existing posts of your blog.
-Logout of Feedburner.com
Your done with step 1. It’s time for step 2:
2. Create a My Yahoo account:
-Open your browser and go to Yahoo.com
-Click on the ‘My Yahoo‘ link, located in the upper left corner of the screen.
-Click on the ‘Sign In’ button if you already have a Yahoo account. If not, click on the ‘I’m new here‘ link to create a new account.
Once you are signed in to My Yahoo:
- Click on the ‘Add Content‘ button, located in the upper left corner.
- A new screen appears.
- Click on the ‘Add RSS Feed‘ link, located to the right of the ‘I’m Done’ button.
-Copy your feed link from your notepad file and paste it into the URL box at My Yahoo.
-Click on ‘Add‘.
If you pasted or typed your feed URL correctly into the My Yahoo URL box, you will receive this message:
(if you do not get this message above, check your feed URL for accuracy and try again.)
- Click on the ‘I’m Done!‘ button.
My Yahoo now returns to the My Yahoo.com home page with your blog and your blog posts added to your personal My Yahoo page.
You can test the links to your articles by clicking on an article title of your posts listed at your My Yahoo page. Yahoo will open up a new screen that lets you read your post and shows all additional posts available on the left side.
When you click on the title of the active post, you are being routed directly to your blog.

With these 2 free traffic methods in place, you will get instant traffic and increase your listing at Yahoo.com and Google.com every time you post an article to your blog.
Just remember to ping your new post after your publicize it (see lesson #1).
OK! Pat yourself on the back, you’re 2/3rds through building a successful online business. Tomorrow we’ll continue this lesson with 2 more highly effective free traffic and rank building tools.
