Mini-Course: Lesson 3b: “Putting Traffic In Overdrive!”
With the first part of driving traffic to your blog behind you, it’s time for the final two steps to generate even more visitors.
Step 1 and 2 of this lesson teach you how to use 2 free Google services for more visitors.
Step1: iGoogle.
To complete this step you will need to have your Feedburner RSS link handy that you learned to create in lesson 1 and that I asked you to save in a notepad file.
1. Go to iGoogle.com.
2. Create a new account or sign in if you already have an existing account with Google.
When creating a new account, Google will ask you for a few things like site color, etc. Accept Google’s default settings.
3. Click on the Add Stuff link located at upper right corner.
4. Click on the Add feed or gadget link located at bottom left corner.
5. In the space provided type or paste your Feedburner RSS URL and click on Add.
iGoogle will display a message indicating that your URL has been added.
6. Scroll to the top of the iGoogle page.
7. Click on Back to iGoogle home link located in upper left corner.
Once back at your iGoogle home page you will now see all your posts.
From now on, every time you add a new post to your main blog, perform a ping after publicizing your post (see lesson1).
This will automatically update your iGoogle home page, your My Yahoo page, that you created in the previous section of this lesson, as well as your Feedburner RSS, with your new post, making it visible to the world and driving traffic to your blog.
The final step in driving more traffic to your main blog is to create a free blogger blog.
Step 2: Blogger.
1. Go to Blogger.com.
2. Create a new account or sign in if you already have an existing account
—- Blogger is owned by Google and your login credentials for an existing Google account will work with Blogger. —-
PS. Use one of our keywords as your blog name and blog title and host your blog at Blogger.com and not your own domain.
3. Leave all of Blogger’s default settings as they are.
4. Add a new post which includes a link pointing to your main blog.
5. Publicize the post and ping it.
That’s it for step 2. Since blogger is owned by Google, you new Blogger’s post will be picked up by Google quickly and your blog will get a high ranking fast because you are using Blogger.com’s ranking.
The only task you are required to do with your Blogger’s blog is to add a new post ever so often, like once a week or once every two weeks. Don’t forget to ping your blog each time you add a new post.
Marketing Secret Dirty Trick:
As you add more posts to your Blogger’s blog, include links in these posts pointing to various posts in your main blog. That way, you will get every post of your main blog included in search engines and ranking high. That brings you even more targeted traffic.
As long as you keep adding new content to your main blog often and ping it, traffic to your blog will increase dramatically.
That concludes lesson 3 of this mini-course. Before long, your main blog will start receiving good targeted traffic.
