4 Steps To Increase Your Online Income In 2010:

With the new year knocking on your door (just 4 more days as of this writing), this is a good time to review what you’ve accomplished (or not) in 2009.

Even if you are new to the internet marketing world and wish to start in 2010, the next 4 pointers will help you ensure smooth sailing and make more money in the year ahead.

1. Define Your Business:
Whether you’re just starting out or you are a seasoned IM pro or somewhere in between; having a clearly defined understanding of what your business is all about, is crucial to your online success.

Spend a few hours writing down in detail
. What your business is about?
. What are you selling?
. Who are your potential customers?
. How will you drive prospects to your site or blog?
. How will you make money (as an affiliate or as a product owner)?
. How will you market your business?
. How can you increase your business profit?

and so on. Be precise. Don’t rush into this. Really think this through. Since the beginning of time, it’s a well known fact that those who fail to plan usually plan to fail. Don’t be one of them.

2. Commit Yourself:
Whether you are or wish to conduct your internet business full-time or part-time, it’s important that you stay focused on your tasks at hand.

By far, many internet marketers fail because they lack the focus to devote the time, effort and energy their business demands. Realize that making money online is a business and you must operate your web site or blog as such.

Write down specific tasks for your business to improve its online visibility and revenue. Then, put in the time required to finish these goals.

Remember: your business is a living entity. That means that even when you completed all the tasks at hand to improve your business, there are still more things you can do and should do to make your online venture better.

3. Create a profit funnel:
No matter how clear you are about your business and how much effort you put in, without sales … you don’t have a business … !

Device a profit method for your business, implement it and work it.

Example of a profit funnel:

1. Get subscribers by offering a free product or service that relates to your internet business and that is highly desirable.

2. Follow up with subscribers by offering additional products or services while alternating between free and low cost ($1 – $47) “pay to access” content.

As low end sales materialize create a list of “low buyers”.

3. Continue to market to subscribers list with the intend to gain more customers.

4. Introduce mid-range offers ($47 – $147) to “low buyers” list.

As mid range sales materialize create a list of “mid buyers”.

5. Repeat step 3

6. Introduce high-ticket items ($147 and up) to “mid buyers” list.

As high range sales materialize create a list of “high buyers”.

7. Repeat step 3

8. Market high end products to “high buyers” list.

With several lists in place, each targeting a specific audience, your online profit will increase exponentially. Additionally, you only need to advertise for the purpose of getting more new subscribers.

4. Check and Double Check:
If the world of business (both off-line and online) has taught me anything, it is that to insure success, you can’t leave anything to chance.

Don’t assume that because you made a few sales, more sales will follow automatically …

Take advantage of tools (many of them free, such as Google Analytics) to check the results of your advertising, which product sells better, which squeeze page gets more opt-ins, how many visitors do you attract every day, what specifically are these visitors interested in and so on.

The difference between you knowing everything there is to know about your business performance and you leaving it to chance is equal to your business sinking or barely staying afloat and your business making a healthy and ever increasing profit day after day.
